Cognac is one of the more historic spirits, but brands continue to find innovative ways to modernize the liquid gold. CAMUS Cognac, the largest family-owned Cognac house in the world with a luxurious selection of aromatic blends, is one of the leaders in this revamp movement.
On June 1, the France-based brand (which is now expanding its reach stateside) unveiled its new XO blend and decanter in the U.S. during an intimate dinner at the critically acclaimed Tatiana by Kwame Onwuachi restaurant in New York City. Guests included New York Giants Quarterback Tyrod Taylor, award-winning womenswear designer Fe of Fe Noel, South African entrepreneur and influencer Olwethu Leshebane, and multi-hyphenated talent Venita Aspen. EDITION by Modern Luxury’s editor-in-chief Bianca Gracie was also in attendance, as she learned more about the elevated blend along with savoring a Jamaican-Nigerian fusion meal that paired perfectly with the cocktails.

Amid refreshing sips of French 75 and Sidecar cocktails that celebrated the XO blend, guests enjoyed delectable dishes that included curried goat patties, hamachi escovitch, green caesar salad, take-out mushrooms, brown stew snapper, braised oxtail and a playful selection of desserts (the cosmic brownie was a favorite at the table). Each dish highlighted the blend very well, as the cognac didn’t overshadow the chef’s beloved and bold flavor profile.

“We pride ourselves on making the world’s most aromatic cognacs, the world’s most drinkable cognacs from the world’s finest region. But it’s more important for you as the person drinking them to really love them,” Camus’ US Brand Ambassador Aria F. Wright said during the evening’s special toast. “To me, it’s a great thing to be able to represent this brand and to have events like this where we talk about the journey of a brand that is five generations strong and that is from the true, best-growing region in France. All of our cognacs are made with professionalism and precision. The brand is very innovative and we love to elevate our profile.”
