No doubt, Manhattan is always in need of as much serenity as possible. Thankfully the highly anticipated Aman New York (amannewyork.com) has arrived. The beloved brand rooted in Eastern traditions has transformed the iconic Crown Building into a temple of tranquility thanks to longtime Aman collaborator Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects.

A grand double-height atrium greets guests like a cleansing breath, while muted tones and layered textures embrace throughout the elegant amenities for the property’s perfectly appointed 83 suites, which are among the largest in the city. Aman New York marks the first Aman hotel to house an Aman Club where members have exclusive access to two club lounges, a private garden terrace as well as a cigar lounge and wine room, offering members curated programming and immersive experiences.

The verdant 14th-floor wraparound garden terrace is outfitted with soothing water features and fire pits offering a rare oasis to escape hectic urban life. The opening also marks the brand’s first urban Aman-branded residences, a collection of 22 private homes located on the upper floors—for those who wish to make the Aman lifestyle a permanent state of mind.

Two restaurants spotlight seasonal fare and are sure to be the talk of the town: Arva, Aman’s Italian dining concept, and Nama, the brand’s Washoku Japanese restaurant with an intimate omakase bar, while the Jazz Club features daily live performances. Of course, the refined retreat is anchored by the ultimate sanctuary—the vast Aman Spa, which spans three floors and boasts a tranquil indoor 20-meter pool, 10 treatment rooms, fitness facilities, plus two spa houses providing guests with an all-encompassing spa journey. A first for the city, these private spa houses comprise a spacious double treatment room, sauna and steam rooms complemented by hot and cold plunge pools, and an outdoor terrace with cabana, daybed and fireplace.

Joining Amangani in Wyoming and Amangiri in Utah, Aman New York is the brand’s third destination in the United States—but will soon be joined by Aman Miami Beach (2024) and Aman Beverly Hills (2026).
