Luther Vandross inspired people worldwide with his soulful odes to love for decades, making the collaboration between the late legend’s estate and Primary Wave Music all the more fitting.
On Aug. 10, the Luther Vandross Estate and Primary Wave Music unveiled its stunning and exclusive crysal collection with Irish luxury brand Waterford. The collection is inspired by the lyrics of Vandross’ iconic 1981 Platinum single “Never Too Much”, with the design of the collection’s crystal cuts referencing the classic lyric: “…A Thousand Kisses From You Is Never Too Much.”
The collection includes crystal glasses, champagne coupes and martini glasses. The pieces are made all the more special with the artist’s etched signature, collaboration logo, 500 karo cuts and a bold single karo kiss cut on the base. There’s also the aptly titled “Luther 81” X capsule that includes a decanter (inspired by the Luther Vandross Foundation bespoke decanter) and pair of tumblers. Only 81 pieces of each design have been hand blown and cut by Master Craftsman at the Waterford factory in Ireland — a nod to the year “Never Too Much” was released.

“Music is an emotional thread that will be integral to our new brand narrative at Waterford. Luther’s music has inspired and bonded generations and his legacy lives on through the important work the Luther Vandross Foundation does”, Waterford’s Creative Director, Alice Bastin, shared in a press release. “It’s incredibly important to me that Waterford supports the work of the Luther Vandross Foundation and promotes cultural conversations around diversity and inclusivity. It is an honour for Waterford to be able to contribute to the important work of the Luther Vandross Foundation and to give talented students attending HBCU’s the financial aid to further their passions in education.”
