Grammy Nominated Mickey Guyton Will Sing the National Anthem for Super Bowl LVI
Born in Arlington, Texas, Mickey Guyton was initially inspired to start singing after seeing LeAnn Rimes perform the National Anthem at a Texas Rangers game. This moment has now come full circle, as Guyton will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Super Bowl LVI.
On her Instagram, Guyton exuded her excitement, “Look at God. I am shook, I am grateful, I am praise dancing … So excited to be singing the National Anthem at #SBLVI on February 13th!”

Guyton recently broke history by being the first Black artist nominated for Best Country Album of the Year by the Grammy’s. She has also received nominations for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance. A year ago, she was the first Black artist nominated for Best Country Solo Performance. In addition, her debut album Remember Her Name garnered praise from critics and earned her CMT’s Breakout Artist of the Year Award. Furthermore, in honor of the Air Force’s 75th anniversary, a flyover will be conducted over the stadium during the National Anthem.
This performance is a massive achievement for Guyton, as the anticipation for the Superbowl performance lineup keeps rising. This year, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar will perform during the Pepsi Halftime Show. With so many music legends, there is something for everyone to enjoy during this historic halftime.
Along with Guyton, before the game begins, Jhené Aiko will perform “America the Beautiful,” and actress Sandra Mae Frank will sign both the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful” in American Sign Language. Aiko is also a Grammy nominee for Album of the Year for Chilombo in 2021. Additionally, Mary Mary, a contemporary gospel duo, will be accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles) as they perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” conducted by Thomas Wilkins, Principal Conductor of the LA Phil’s Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
