Pepsi Music Lab Introduces a New Class of Next-Gen Artists
Pepsi has a new yearly platform for ambitious young artists seeking to break into the music industry––Pepsi Music Lab, announced on Oct. 20, will provide mentorship and opportunities for a select group of young talent. Pepsi’s Class of ‘22-’23 includes 12 artists, ranging from rapper AKINYEMI to country singer-songwriter Lexie Hayden to genreless, soul- and gospel-inspired Cain Lofton. The goal of this initiative, which will begin with a boot camp in New York City from Oct. 25 – 27, is to open doors to aspiring independent artists in order to stimulate the next generation of musical talent.
With the guidance and connections of industry experts like choreographer Laurieann Gibson, photographer and influencer Lenny S, prolific music video director Director X, and LaRussell, rapper and founder of the independent creative collective Good Compenny, these artists will gain the knowledge and experience essential to succeed in today’s music industry. And the partnership will not end there––Pepsi will offer this group opportunities to grow their exposure throughout the year.
Pepsi Music Lab partnered with the innovative operating system UnitedMasters to put together the diverse and ambitious group of artists who comprise the Class of ‘22-’23, spanning genres, experiences, and creative styles. To offer the most opportunities possible to these creators, UnitedMasters will help elevate their voices to a multitude of digital and popular media platforms. “Now in partnership with UnitedMasters, Pepsi is empowering the next generation of creators, helping them hone their craft and develop their talent so that they can generate the next big moment. Connecting independent artists to a brand with this rich legacy is the formula for creating a new future of music,” said CEO and Founder of UnitedMasters Steve Stoute, per the press release.
The diversity of the Class of ‘22-’23 reflects the objective of Pepsi Music Lab: to develop the up-and-coming voices of a generation in an effort to uplift the culture as a whole. This group represents not only the newest generation in Pepsi’s long legacy of bolstering cultural creativity but also the next era of the music industry with a vision of multi-genre versatility and artistic individuality.
