This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Grammy-winning album Black Radio and Glasper’s solo return with the upcoming release of Black Radio III. Swooping in alongside the Black Radio III is the official video for “Black Superhero.” The video was shot in Los Angeles and directed by the award-winning director/filmmaker, Charlie Buhler. Buhler takes viewers through a brief visual account of the real-life Black heroes. The video puts the spotlight on the heroes that live and work passionately for their communities. The single features Killer Mike, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Big K.R.I.T.
Black Radio III features the Grammy-winning single “Better Than I Imagined” with featured guests H.E.R. and Meshell Ndegeocello and “Shine” featuring artists D Smoke and Tiffany Gouché.
Glasper’s contribution to music and culture expands over two decades, creating a remarkable legacy that covers not only music but contemporary art and advocacy. The first Black Radio made history as the first album to debut in the Top 10 of four different genre charts simultaneously: hip-hop, R&B, urban contemporary, jazz, and contemporary jazz. The follow-up album Black Radio II accomplished the same.
Glasper is nominated for two 2022 Grammy awards, including Best Progressive R&B Album for Dinner Party (Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington, and 9th Wonder) and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Born Again” with Leon Bridges.
Black Radio III will be available worldwide on February 25, 2022, via Loma Vista Recordings. You can pre-order the album here. See the tracklist below.
