The summer festival season kicked off with TwoGether Land. The sister festival to Atlanta’s ONE Musicfest (both founded by Jason “J” Carter) made its inaugural debut in Dallas, Texas from May 25-26 at Fair Park.
Tens of thousands of festivalgoers enjoyed thrilling performances and lively podcasts that highlighted the festival’s mission of inclusivity and well, togetherness. “We looked at a few different places over the years, and I think it was more so the region. It just didn’t feel like it was serviced. You’re not being serviced when it comes to cultural diversity and programming when it comes to festivals and music and hip hop,” Carter tells EDITION of the reasoning behind placing the festival in Dallas.
“Houston gets a lot of things already. But Dallas is a huge market for live music. It’s one of the No. 1 ticket-selling markets in the nation for live music. There’s a huge population of Black and brown people, but there are no true hip-hop and R&B festivals that happen in Dallas. I just couldn’t figure out why. And no one really had an answer.

Carter continues: “So I met with everyone from the mayor, to live music venue owners and promoters. They really didn’t have answers either. So I said, ‘What do you all think about us bringing an extension to One Music Fest to Dallas?’ Everyone championed behind it. That’s when I thought we really got something here. We’ve got support in the city, from the political side to brands to promoters, creatives, etc. So, it just seemed like the team was there to make it successful. We’ve been planning this for the last two and a half years.”

The performances on day one included rising country music star Shaboozey, whose “A Bar Song (Tipsey)” is currently ruling the charts; Tink (who treated fans with popsicles in the Texas heat); Dru Hill brought a nostalgic vibe with their ‘90s hits; Three 6 Mafia; Gucci Mane; Key Glock, who paid a touching tribute to his late cousin Young Dolph, captivating the crowd with the emotional performance of “Preach”; 4Batz; and the night’s closer, Summer Walker.

On day two, Texas native That Mexican OT engaged the crowd with an unmatched stage presence. Texas continued to be the spotlight during Bay Bay’s set, featuring high-energy performances from natives like Dorrough, Fat Pimp, GS Boyz, Big Tuck, Treal Lee and Prince Rick. Jeezy and Latto brought Atlanta’s vibe to Dallas, with the former delivering powerful renditions of “Put On” while the latter kept her fans dancing throughout her set.
The legendary Lil Wayne closed the festival, delivering a string of hits from “A Milli” to “Mrs. Officer,” and even treating fans to tracks from his mixtape days, appeasing his longtime supporters. He closed out the set by playing the befitting track “I Will Always Love You” by the late Whitney Houston.
